Different states in India have different timelines to announce their registrations for B.Ed. admission. Some states start their registrations from December onwards for entrance exams in March-April. Whereas some other states may start their registrations for B.Ed. application during the spring seasons of February to March.
There are state entrance exams that usually cater to the universities/colleges within the state. And then there are national level B.Ed. entrance exams as well. So, you need to identify where you would like to pursue your degree from and then plan accordingly.
For this, you should carefully study the unique benefits that the colleges/ universities of your choice brings. These could include location, faculty, reputation of the institute, fees and other expenses.

Common B.Ed. Entrance Exams in India
There are several entrance exams to get admission for a B.Ed. degree. As mentioned earlier, some cater to state universities/colleges while others are national-level. Some examples of state-level B.Ed. entrance exams include UP B.Ed. JEE ( Uttar Pradesh B.Ed. Joint Entrance Exam), GU B.Ed. CET (Guwahati University B.Ed. Common Entrance Test) and Rajasthan PTET (Pre-teacher Education Test).
A few national level entrance tests for B.Ed. are CUET PG (Common University Entrance Test- Post Graduate) and IGNOU B.Ed. entrance exam. In the following sections, we will delve deeper into some of these popular B.Ed. entrance exams and find out how to go about them.
CUET PG
Commonly referred to as the Common University Entrance Test, CUET PG is conducted by the National Testing Academy (NTA). It is an online exam that provides a single eligibility score for all its participating central universities/colleges.
Some universities that accept CUET scores for B.Ed. admissions are University of Delhi, Benaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Manav Rachna University in Faridabad, Rajiv Gandhi University in Itanagar, etc.
Here are the steps to apply for CUET PG for B.Ed.:
There are 2 phases in applying for CUET PG. Phase 1 is the Registration process and phase 2 is the Application process. Let’s walk through them one by one.
Phase 1: Registration for CUET PG
- Step 1: Register yourself for CUET PG by visiting the official website: https://pgcuet.samarth.ac.in/
- Step 2: Click on the ‘Register’ button on the top right corner of the screen.
- Step 3: You will see the ‘Instruction and Procedure of the online submission of Application Form’. Make sure that you read the mentioned points carefully and understand them thoroughly.
- Step 4: Download the information bulletin from the website. You will need it handy while filling up your application form.
- Step 5: Start filling up the registration form by providing your name, address, identity proof, phone number and a valid email ID.
- Step 6: Once done, press on Submit and Send OTP.
- Step 7: Enter the OTP you receive on the phone number you gave and you will successfully register yourself for the CUET PG.

Phase 2: Application Form for CUET PG
- Step 1: Note down the application number that is generated. Click on Continue: Application form
- Step 2: Fill in all the details asked like family information, address information, etc.
- Step 3: Check everything once more and then proceed to the next section.
- Step 4: Fill in your educational details, click on Save. Proceed to the next section.
- Step 5: Fill in the Examination center details.
- Step 6: Click on Save. Review it once and then proceed to the next section.
- Step 7: Select the university/college name you want to apply for and the program.
- Step 8: Select the test papers you have to appear as per the program you have chosen. For this, refer to the Information Bulletin you downloaded earlier.
- Step 9: Confirm on the declaration and click on Save. Then, proceed to the next section.
- Step 10: Upload documents like photo, signature and other certificates, if any.
- Step 11: Click on the Preview button and check your form thoroughly. Then proceed ahead.
- Step 12: Enter the email ID used earlier and fill in the OTP you receive on it. Click on Verify.
- Step 13: Click on Continue application form, preview all the information filled so far and move to the next section.
- Step 14: Move to the payment stage and pay the fee online.
Once you pay the fees, you would get a confirmation of successfully submitting your form. After that, you will be receiving updates about the admit card and other details for the test as and when NTA releases them.

RIE CEE
CEE or Common Entrance Exam for B.Ed. is held by NCERT for various Regional Institute of Education (RIE). There are 5 RIEs located across the country. They include RIE Bhopal, RIE Ajmer, RIE Mysore, RIE Bhubneshwar and NE-RIE Shillong.
CEE is conducted by NCERT. It is an online exam held in various centers across the country. Just like the CUET, this common entrance exam also ensures a single score for eligibility for the various RIEs.
Here are the steps to apply for RIE CEE:
- Step 1: Register yourself for RIE CEE by visiting the official website: https://cee.ncert.gov.in/
- Step 2: Fill in details like your name, parents’ name, phone number and email ID. Click on Candidate Registration.
- Step 3: Once done, you will receive a system generated username and one time password.
- Step 4: Login to the website using these credentials.
- Step 5: You will see your registration number. Note it down for future reference.
- Step 6: Read the instructions carefully on the Index page and click on Next.
- Step 7: Fill in all the required information on the Applicants Basic detail page and click on next.
- Step 8: Check all the details carefully and click on Submit.
- Step 9: Fill in your choice of exam center (up to 3 choices) and program.
- Step 10: Opt for the appropriate state/union territory against which you are seeking your admission.
- Step 11: Then, fill in your qualifying examination and the aggregate marks. For 2 year B.Ed. program, it would be an undergraduate examination.
- Step 12: Move on to upload your photo and signature.
- Step 13: Preview the details filled so far and click on Confirm.
- Step 14: Pay the examination fee.
- Step 15: Once the payment is successful, remember to print or save the application form. You will need this while taking your admission.
Note: RIE CEE gives 60% weightage to entrance test marks and 40% weightage to the aggregate marks of the qualifying exam. This means, if you are applying for the 2-year B.Ed. degree, 40% of the aggregate of all the subjects from your undergraduation exam will be taken into account. The remaining 60% will be from the marks that you get in the CEE entrance exam.

IGNOU B.Ed. Entrance Exam
Every year, IGNOU conducts its own entrance exam to admit students to its B.Ed. program. So, if you are looking to pursue correspondence B.Ed. degree from IGNOU, here are the steps you need to follow:
- Step 1: Register yourself by filling up your details on the portal
- Step 2: Login using your credentials.
- Step 3: Complete your profile by filling all necessary details like address, category, etc.
